Knowledge Management/ Workflow Solutions Development

One of the prestigious financial institution in the Philippines, needs to improve its previous system of manually routing documents across the company, by developing a system to replace the “paper chase.” With the wide range of local and international cards, such as VISA, MasterCard, JCB and American Express, and Equitable PCI Bank VISA Electron Card, it continues to account for the largest local market share in terms of cardholder base and gross sales volume. Moreover, with also the largest number of accredited merchant establishments, its affiliated cards remained the most widely accepted credit cards in the country. With such as diverse product profile, a project was formed.
The project was developed to provide the whole company with a Web-based electronic forms storage, retrieval, processing, and workflow solution using the existing e-mail and intranet infrastructure. This replaces the current paper-based routing and approval of various marketing, credit and administrative forms being used in the day-to-day operations within the organization.

All forms are stored in a repository residing in the intranet server. The company’s employees retrieve a form from the repository, fill it up, and send it to the designated approving authority (up to six form routing levels.) An e-mail notification will be sent to the form initiator upon its approval and simultaneously stored in a central database, ready to be retrieved for other processing tasks.

The system is currently deployed over the corporate intranet at the company’s headquarters and Metro Manila sub-offices, and is being accessed remotely by the company’s branches in Cebu and Davao.

The solution is based on Microsoft Windows Distributed interNet Applications (DNA) Architecture using the following Microsoft enterprise products and application development tools: MS Internet Information Server, Exchange Server, SQL Server 7.0, MS Transaction Server and Visual Studio.
